Insurance billing

I am to happy bill your insurance for you

  • Regular medical insurance plans:
    • As of November 2023 I am in network with
      • Regence BCBS
      • Pacific Source
      • MODA
      • Kaiser
      • TriWest/ VA for veterans

Not all plans cover acupuncture.

Acupuncture benefits are easy to understand.  I send patients a form to verify their coverage and I will also verify coverage as well, in case there is a discrepancy.

In many cases I can bill your insurance as an out-of-network provider.  So if you do not see your insurance carrier on my list, please call and I will see what they will contribute.

I do not take does not take OHP/ DMAP at this office.
If you  see me listed as Medicaid provider, that is only for my practice at the Community Health Centers of Lane County.

  • Motor vehicle accident injuries:
    • Do not need a referral
    • Older claims need to have remaining PIP benefits.
    • Some auto-insurances are wonderful to work with but some are not.
    • I rarely have problems with claims, I keep excellent chart notes.
    • Please realize that you are responsible for all charges from your care here for the injuries sustained in the accident.
  • Worker's Compensation:
    • Can be billed if your workers' compensation  insurance will allow.
    • Needs a prescription from the main attending doctor linked to your case and your specific diagnosis.
    • I will get written verification from your WC insurance before we start care if you do not already have it.
    • Please realize that you are responsible for all charges from your care here for the injuries sustained in the accident.

Important definitions used in the insurance world:

  • Deductible: amount you pay per year before insurance will contribute to acupuncture care.  In many cases, the "deductible is waived."
  • Co-pay:  a set fee that you pay, that does not change with the amount of care you receive.
  • Co-insurance: a set percentage of the fee for services provided.  Varies with the amount of care that you receive.
  • Out-of-pocket-maximum: If you needed a lot of medical care in any one year like surgeries etc, once you have paid this amount then you will not have to pay anymore co-pays or co-insurance until the next year.
